We are almost in 2017, and things are changing. Fashion is growing more and more, and working its charm from a young age. It may be scary for some parents, seeing their little boy or girl looking more stylish than they ever did – but it’s happening! So embrace it and go with the flow.

Here are some of the easiest ways to be fashionable (for a child!)

Jewellery
Everyone wears jewellery now; it isn’t just a ‘girl thing.’ Necklaces and bracelets are super in right now, the more, the better. Bracelets look great on boys or girls, but it you want a cool style for your little boy, get him some leather looking bracelets, or wooden bead bracelets. These are affordable, and you can buy them in sets which are always handy instead of having to spend hours choosing what looks best.

Clothes
There are many top brands that we know that are now catering to young children. They have bang-on trends for every season, giving your child a fresh look all year round. If you have little girls in particular, then mustard pie clothing is a fantastic brand. They make age appropriate clothes (which is always important to a parent), but also they are fashion forward and will look amazing. You may even be jealous that they are not made in your size!

Accessories
Accessories are a brilliant way to mix and match. They don’t necessarily have to go with what your child is wearing. Odd accessories actually look cool nowadays. The more random – the better.

Glasses
If your child doesn’t wear glasses already, they can be a nice way to change up their look. Especially in the summer because they can mix up their sunglasses for different styles.

Hats
Hats are another brilliant idea. Ask what your child likes, there are no ‘bad hats’ anymore. Even the old fashioned kind manage to look trendy today.

Hair
There are so many different hairstyles you can do with your child. If you have a girl, you can play around with braids, buns, ponytails, curly, straight… The list goes on. Have a look together at what kind of styles she likes and then just have a go!
If you have a boy there obviously aren’t as much to choose from, unless you are thinking of putting some funky patterns in their hair, or cutting it differently. It’s best to go to a real barbershop and see what the actual hairdresser thinks. He may have some ideas that you hadn’t thought of. (Plus he knows what he’s doing.)

Confidence
Most importantly, teach your child how to be confident in their own skin. Being ‘fashionable’ is an idea, not a fact, so if your boy wants to go out in pink because he likes the colour – let him! Being different is awesome! Who wants to look like everyone else?
Give your child the freedom to be themselves without feeling scared or worried what other people think.

That’s what real fashion is about.
